Amid shooting stones, stranded vehicles allowed to move towards Srinagar on NH

Jammu: About 3,000 motor vehicles stranded considering that Wednesday at unique parts of the Srinagar-Jammu freeway crossed the Jawahar Tunnel on Saturday in direction of Srinagar, officials mentioned. The freeway was reopened for vehicular visitors Friday night immediately after clearance of particles at Digdol.

Vehicular movement, however, was impacted on Saturday by a fresh landslide and constant capturing of stones from hillocks overlooking the freeway in Ramban sector, officials stated.

The highway was shut on Wednesday following a large landslide in Digdole spot, leaving hundreds of automobiles, which includes trucks carrying livestock, refreshing fruit and veggies, stranded.

Dozens of sheep along with a large range of rooster died, though big amount of contemporary fruits and veggies perished owing to the closure of the freeway, officers stated.

The officials claimed site visitors on the Mughal Highway was also suspended on Saturday early morning just after overnight gentle snowfall in Peer Ki Gali region. The mild snowfall in Peer Ki Gali disrupted traffic amongst the districts of Rajouri and Poonch and Shopian in south Kashmir.

Nonetheless, targeted traffic was authorized at about 2.30pm right after the highway was cleared of the hurdles, they said.

Earlier, all through the work of the clearance of the landslides at Digdol on the national highway, new landslide took location resulting in closure of freeway for the 2nd working day, officers explained.

As consequence of the blockade, about 2,500 weighty motor automobiles (HMVs) and 500 mild motor autos (LMVs) were being stranded.
